“If you give a little love
You can get a little love of your own”

“If you give a little love
You can get a little love of your own”
Noah and the Whale
To preach: Christians are too obsessed with serving God and their-fellow man. Jesus didn’t come to be served, but to serve (mat20:28). The focus should not be on us serving Him, but Him serving us. And we are to serve from the overflow of His grace. The focus should be on receiving from Him. The goal in life is not to serve Him, but to know Him (phil3:8-14).
rom8:32 AMP He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?
Are you struggling to rest in God’s grace? Are you struggling to receive from God? You don’t need to work to receive. God gives and supplies freely. The flesh says: work, work, work. The Spirit says: rest, rest, rest.
rom8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Love supplies freely. By faith we rest in love and allow love to supply for us. Faith takes what love gives. By trusting in Christ we receive from God’s abundant supply. We enter into rest through faith. We cease from our works and enter into His rest by putting our complete trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work.
gal5:16 NASB But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
heb4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Just as we enter into rest, so do we stay in His rest; through faith in Jesus Christ. We enter into rest by faith and we stay in rest by faith. We go from rest to rest by living from faith to faith.
rom1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
eph2:8 NASB For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God
col2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
And even our faith is His work. Our faith is authored and maintained by Jesus Christ. He is the source and finisher, the author and perfecter of our faith. By beholding Him we enter into rest and stay in rest.
heb12:2 AMP Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
The just shall live by keeping his eyes on Jesus from first to last, beginning to end.
isa33:17 ESV Your eyes will behold the king in his beauty; they will see a land that stretches afar.
isa26:3 ESV You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
joh14:9 NASB Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father ‘?
heb1:3 AMP He [Jesus] is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power.
2 cor 3:18 AMP And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.
I found myself praying for things this morning and realized that I was troubled about and prayed for a lot of things that are not needful, because it will come by doing that which is needful.
Father establish me in peace - He will when you sit at Jesus’ feet. Build up my faith and let it be unshakable - He will when you sit at the feet of Jesus (heb12:2; rom10:17). Establish me in your righteousness - He will when you sit at the feet of Jesus (rom5:17). Help me to choose Your word above every thoughts, feelings or circumstances - He will when you sit at the feet of Jesus (rom10:17). Help me to have reverence for your Word and put it in first place - He will when you sit at the feet of Jesus. Let me walk in Your shalom and wholeness all the days of my life and choose peace rather than worry or envy - He will when you sit at the feet of Jesus (rom1:16). Father let Your grace and peace be multiplied in my life - He will when you sit at the feet of Jesus (2 pet 1:2). Father I have this daily concern x,y,z, thank You for Your provision, please help me out - Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (mat6:33) - He will when you choose to sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His word (luk10:38-42).
Now, it’s not wrong to pray about all these things.
phil4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
But often we see our worries rather than God’s provision. When you pray for things, pray with thankfulness and a supply-consciousness. We can be focused and concerned about these ‘little’ things, when our focus should be on growing in the knowledge of Christ and receiving from Him. Set your affection on the things above, not on things on the earth (col3:2). The bible doesn’t say ‘worry as you pray’, but when you are worried to cast your cares upon Him (1 pet 5:7) and to be careful for NOTHING, but in EVERY THING by prayer and supplication WITH THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known unto God (phil4:6-7). When was the last time you experienced the peace of God in your heart? Is it perhaps because you’ve been worried about many things? Choose to make resting and receiving at His feet the priority in your life and see all your other worries flee. Choose to make it a priority in your prayers to pray for that which really matters: to have meaningful relationships, starting with your relationship with God and growing in the knowledge of Him. And see God supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (phil4:19). Ask for revelation of the love of Christ (eph3:17-19), for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him (eph1:17), ask Him to make it your heart desire to know Him!
2 pet 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Live a life of receiving!
—
rom5:17 [..] much more they which RECEIVE abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
This only would I learn of you, Received you the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
—gal3:2 AKJV
Abba, teach me to enjoy YOUR LOVE without feeling guilty. Teach me to rest in YOUR GRACE without feeling like I must give something back. Teach me the unforced rhythms of grace. Teach me to enjoy the life I have in You. Reveal to me Your love, day upon day, that I may be established, grounded and rooted in love. That I may come to a full knowledge of who you are! That I may come to a full realization of the love you have for me. I thank You for wisdom & revelation on Your love for me. Thank You Father. Amen.
—Matthew 11:28-30 MSG; eph3:14-21; jud1:20-21
