“God loves you. Rest in that. You were created with your personality for a reason. There is only one you. The most powerful thing you can do in life is to enjoy who you are, love yourself and love others. By loving others you are loving Jesus”
— Steve BeardedBadger Olive

To preach: Christians are too obsessed with serving God and their-fellow man. Jesus didn’t come to be served, but to serve (mat20:28). The focus should not be on us serving Him, but Him serving us. And we are to serve from the overflow of His grace. The focus should be on receiving from Him. The goal in life is not to serve Him, but to know Him (phil3:8-14).

Resting in God’s work for you - Joseph Prince

phil1:Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

God will start it God will finish it! You don’t have to worry that somewhere along the way you do something and you will loose your salvation. What is our part then? Being confident of this very thing. Rest in that God will finish it.

1 tes 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

He will do it. Your part is: REST!

The more we grow older in our spiritual life with the Lord the more we realize He loves us. God caries you and you are just resting. The secret is to rest on His shoulders.

When you lean on God’s love His power moves on your behalf.

God doesn’t want something from us. He simply wants us.

We need to learn to stop pursuing things and to start pursuing Him. God sees your relationship with Him as the only thing that you need for every success in your life.

Prayer is about sharing intimacies with God and Him sharing intimacies with you.

Prayer is about sharing intimacies with God

Prayer is about sharing intimacies with God and Him sharing intimacies with you. God wants to share His intimate thoughts with you but we are so busy seeking other stuff. Most people when they pray are praying for stuff. To get something from God. Prayer is just about intimacy with God. Sharing our intimate thoughts and desires and passions. The bible says:

mat6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

You know what the kingdom of God is? Relationship! It’s not some mystical thing out there. It’s relationship. And if you have intimate relationship with God, then all these other things that you want from Him, they just follow you.

- Arthur Meintjes, Friendship with God series part 1

Considering David ~ A man after Gods heart is not one that ‘knows it all’ or ‘does it all the right’, but one that deeply and confidently trusts in and holds on to Gods love and goodness towards and for him, no matter what his performance, circumstance or situation is.

“So off the guy goes to the gym, so he can build muscles to push his car. You realize how dumb this is!? And the only thing that’s the matter is there’s no petrol in the car.. There’s no petrol in the car. The bible says we run on love. Your life runs on love. Unless you get established on the love of God and allow Him to love you everyday just as you are, you are going to get to a place where your petrol runs out and then your Christian life becomes a drag.”
How many of you can say: I just want to get back to where my Christian life is not a big drag. But that my Christian life just runs by itself, when I use that power steering it works!

God is such a loving and responsible Father, even more than we. Even though we try so hard to keep a hold on Him and hold fast to His word, His hold on us is what keeps us safe and secure. Our faith in our own ability to keep hold on Him is misplaced. Our ability to hold on changes from day to day, but God never changes and He has promised that He will never relax His hold on us.

Trust His ability to hold on to you. He will never relax His hold; you can rest in that truth!

For He God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down, relax My hold on you! Assuredly not!

Hebrews 13:5

Notes Resting In God (Arthur Meintjes)

God wants you to have the strength to be able to coop with life. Because He came to give you life. And if you don’t have strength you can’t coop with life, because with life comes challenges. And most Christians are so worn-out, working for God, that when the challenges of life come they can’t stand against it. They can’t come and coop with it, they can’t overcome.

- Arthur Meintjes

God’s rest is your strength. Rest in God. Rest in His love, provision, His work, His wisdom for whatever challenges in life you face.

phil4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

3 keys for entering into rest:

  1. See Jesus, think of Him, as the one who was faithful to the charge God gave Him. He did the work and left NOTHING undone. heb3:1-6 JBP See him as faithful to the charge God gave him

44.59 recording fault, part cut out :(

It’s when we refuse that what God is doing in our lives right now is because He wants to be good to me, that we keep ourselves from entering into rest. (heb3:18)

Prayer:

This year, it’s the year for me to say ‘Lord, I’m entering into your rest’. I’m going to trust that you’re a good God. And no matter what happens around me, even as that scripture says in Isaiah, even as the mountains and hills are removed, know that My mercy, know that My kindness will not depart from thee. Even if everything around me is crumbling, I’m going to enter into that rest and say Lord I know, even when everything around me is crumbling. I’m in the rest of knowing that you are good to me.

Rest is a free gift. To rest in God is something God wants to give without me having to work for it.
